With a flair for digging up new and inventive ways to keep animals healthy, Dr. Jean Dodds has a perfectly pawsitive attitude when it comes to giving our furry friends a wonderful life. Mixing her love of animals and her instinctual ability to think bigger and better, Dr. Dodds has become am internationally-renowned and respected holistic veterinarian, research scientist and hematologist for over 47 years.
Her animal impulses have triggered a spark that have led her to create new and improved ways in veterinary medicine, including founding Hemopet in 1986, the first-ever non-profit animal blood bank and greyhound rescue/adoption program where over 2400 greyhounds have been rescued. In addition to that, she holds over 20 patents, including Nutriscan™- a ground-breaking, canine food sensitivity saliva test that checks for antibodies that can identify any existing and developing food sensitivities and intolerance which can lead to bowel disease (“leaky gut” syndrome) among other health issues.
As a speaker and a research scientist, Dr. Dodds has sunk her teeth into many chewy projects, including publishing over 150 research papers and authoring the book, The Canine Thyroid Epidemic. And, if this isn’t enough to get tails waggin’, she has numerous awards and accolades under her collar. For instance, in 1977, she received the Region I Award for Outstanding Service to the Vet Profession from the American Animal Hospital Association in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. In 1994, she received the Holistic Veterinarian of the Year Award from the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association; and in 1974, she received the Outstanding Woman Veterinarian of the Year in Denver, Colorado—and this is only a short walk in the park of her various accomplishments.
Today, Dr. Dodds is busy expanding Hemopet’s services, traveling (online and offline) to teach pet owners, animal lovers and other animal health care professionals on hematology, blood banking, immunology nutrition, the paradigm-shifting technology of Nutrigenomics, vaccination protocols, thyroid disease detection and continues to lead the dynamic ever-growing field of holistic veterinary medicine.
